Looking to the Future

Revd John Cook retired at the end of September 2018.  He and Ann have moved to Felixtowe where we pray they may enjoy a happy and fulfilling retirement.

Holymoorside and St Andrew's are moving into interesting times.  Our two churches are joining five others to form the United Reformed Church North Derbyshire Resource Area.  The other churches are Rose Hill URC in the centre of Chesterfield, Calow URC, West Derbyshire URC Wirksworth, Fountain Square Church Tideswell (Methodist/United Reformed), and Buxton URC.

The churches cover a wide geographical spread, with the hills and valleys of the Peak District separating Buxton and Fountain Square from the Chesterfield area churches and West Derbyshire.  The churches have built up a good relationship over several years in the North Derbyshire Cluster, holding regular meetings and events.   Although serving very different communities we have all learnt to work, worship and share together, following Jesus Christ as the people of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Discussions are beginning about what ministry will be provided for the churches.  All the churches will be starting to prepare their profiles.  All of them will be thinking prayerfully about their mission in their local area and how they can support and resource each other.  We look forward in hope to the opportunities and challenges ahead.

Look out for more news on the website as we learn more of what the future holds.
